Post 8 - Taoism

Taoism is a belief that is about letting go and living fully. The problem of modern life, of my life, is the idea that it is lifeless, full of obligations and distractions from simply living and being. The goal of Taoism is being able to live our lives to the fullest, to thrive in harmony with the rest of the world. Harmony is an important attribute to cultivate, even if this modern age. We tend to be so busy and focused on material goals rather than on the inner self. Tao teaches on how to conserve our energy to live a life without conflict or friction.

Tao  means "the way" and it is true that Taoism is a way to live in harmony with life. There are three different schools of Taoism, philosophical, yoga and religious Tao. Each school can teach us about how to live a life. Philosophical Tao focuses on living and the attitudes we cultivate to life. The Tao teaches one to be like the water, it is both gentle and quiet yet strong enough to move mountains. Yoga Tao teaches us how to live a clean and harmonious life on the inside and outside through meditation and introspection, while religious Tao is a way to interact with the higher powers of the world. Each Tao focuses on the harmony and balance of inner/outer self, on nature and man, life and death. The Tao can teach us to understand the duality of nature and of ourselves, and it can teach us how to let go and simply be.
